The Yonkers Commission on Human Rights is responsible for promoting awareness of human rights issues and remedies and serves as an alternative to the court system for resolving discrimination claims.

The Clinton County Human Rights Commission is composed of 8 members who are appointed by the County Legislature. The members of the Commission are all volunteers who have demonstrated interest in the protection of human rights and the elimination of illegal discrimination.

The Commission works in close partnership with the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department tohold businesses and individuals accountable for discriminatory practices that deny equal treatment to any individual in private employment, housing, education, or commerce.

The Committee offers guidance in response to phone inquiries, prepares written legal advisory opinions, and provides training to government and other interested groups.
