OPA is a 501c3 non-profit organization building queer community in the Otsego County region, including an annual Pridefest in the city of Oneonta. At OPA, our aim is to build LGBTQIA+ community in this area. The Alliance includes, in addition to Otsego County, the queer community and allies in Upstate New York. Our organization started with the goal of bringing Gay Pride to Otsego County and has grown into a thriving queer community that hosts events all year and provides support for queer youth and families.

They have built a supportive network of families to reduce isolation, empower those who care for people with developmental disabilities or special healthcare needs, to navigate and influence service systems, and make informed decisions. Parent to Parent also offers a service called Text4Caregivers, which is a free 10-week text service that distributes timely and relevant self-care and stress-management support via text messaging. The goal is to offer support in a quick, easy way to parents of children with special needs.

Plattsburgh Cares is a coalition of faith, service and activist groups working to assist immigrants and others in our community to achieve their goals safely and responsibly with compassion, justice and respect for all. Plattsburgh Cares provides humanitarian assistance for those in need. Volunteers unload food from cars at St. Joe’s, and load bags into cars at the end. The bags are then delivered to the Plattsburgh Public Library, the hospital social workers’ office, and area motels that work with the Department of Social Services (DSS) to house folks in need of shelter.
